ABSTRACT

This research analyzes the School Feeding Program (PAE) at Colegio CODEMA I.E.D., recognizing it as a key strategy for promoting equity, well-being, and academic performance. Beyond providing food, the PAE functions as a pedagogical and social tool that impacts health, concentration, and school attendance, especially in vulnerable communities where it may represent a main daily meal.

The study aims to assess the nutritional quality, acceptance, and impact of the school snack, comparing it with standards from the Ministry of National Education (MEN), FAO, and WHO. It argues that a balanced and culturally relevant diet can enhance learning and student health.

Using an interdisciplinary approach that includes neuroscience, sociology, critical pedagogy, circular economy, and public policy, the research links nutrition, sustainability, and education. A mixed methodology—surveys, focus groups, and nutritional analysis—provides a complete understanding of the program.

The main proposals include diversifying menus, working with local farmers, promoting nutrition education, and increasing student participation. The study concludes that the PAE is essential for student development but needs improvements in nutrition, organization, and sustainability to achieve greater educational and social impact.
